An Elegant NYC Church Wedding with Central Park Portraits
NYC Wedding Photography

There’s a certain timeless romance about an NYC church wedding — the grandeur of historic architecture, the quiet reverence of the ceremony, and the city’s vibrant energy just outside the doors. Last fall, I had the honor of photographing a beautiful wedding at Ascension Roman Catholic Church in Manhattan, followed by romantic portraits in Central Park.

A Sacred Ceremony at Ascension Roman Catholic Church
Located in the heart of the Upper West Side, Ascension Roman Catholic Church was the perfect setting for this New York City church wedding. The high vaulted ceilings, intricate stained glass, and golden light pouring through the windows created an atmosphere of warmth and elegance.
As the bride walked down the aisle to the sound of the organ, the emotion in the room was palpable. The couple exchanged vows in a traditional Catholic ceremony surrounded by family and friends, their voices echoing softly in the historic space.
Classic NYC Wedding Portraits in Central Park
After the ceremony, we headed to Central Park’s Conservatory Garden, where we focused our portrait session around the iconic Burnett Fountain. Surrounded by lush greenery and blooming flowers, the fountain’s elegant bronze sculpture created a timeless and romantic backdrop.

Why I Love Photographing NYC Church Weddings
An NYC church wedding combines the best of two worlds: the elegance and tradition of a sacred ceremony, and the endless photo opportunities that only New York City can offer. Whether it’s an intimate parish in the Village or a grand cathedral uptown, every church wedding in NYC has its own unique character — and Central Park is the perfect complement for post-ceremony portraits.
If you’re planning your own NYC church wedding and want photography that captures both the reverence of your ceremony and the vibrance of the city, I’d love to tell your story.
